Same Pop, two different stickers, two very different values. If you collect Funko Pops in Europe, understanding the difference between a US exclusive sticker and a Special Edition sticker is the single most important sticker lesson there is.
The US exclusive sticker
When Funko releases a Pop exclusively through a US retailer — Target, Hot Topic, BoxLunch, Walmart, Amazon, GameStop and others — the box carries that retailer's sticker. It proves the Pop is the original, first-release exclusive. These are the versions US collectors line up for on release day.
The Special Edition sticker
Many US exclusives later get an international release for Europe and other markets. Those boxes carry a generic silver "Special Edition" sticker instead of the retailer's logo. It's the same figure inside — but the box tells a different story.
Why the difference matters
- Value: The US retailer sticker version consistently trades higher than the Special Edition — often 30–100% more, and the gap tends to widen once a Pop is vaulted.
- Collectability: For serious collectors, the original sticker is part of the item's identity. A Target chase with the bullseye sticker is simply not the same item as its Special Edition twin.
- Scarcity: US exclusives are produced for one retailer in one market. Special Editions are distributed across many countries.
How to tell them apart when buying
Always check the product photos and description for the exact sticker. Reputable sellers state it explicitly — we do on every single product. If a listing says just "exclusive" without naming the sticker, ask.
Getting US stickers in Europe
The catch: US exclusives are only sold in the US, so European collectors usually face expensive shipping, 25% import VAT and customs fees. That's the entire reason Pops of the Galaxy exists — we import US-stickered Pops to our Danish warehouse, so you get the real sticker without the import hassle.
